Sierra Madre Collection is proud to announce our new key services, specializing in the automobile industry. Our excellent customer service, large selection of genuine, NOS and aftermarket keys will simplify the process for requesting key services. There are four basic services we offer, please see below. The services are available for vehicles that do not use transponder keys. Please note that the cost of the key blank is not included, and it will need to be purchased separately. Please call us with any questions.

We can cut a new key to match your existing lock when you supply to us the original manufacturer’s key-code.

When you supply a lock to us, we'll be able to produce a matching key. The lock is disassembled and a key is made to work with the original tumblers. For example, the old 911 ignitions had a paper stuck on them with the code. If the paper is gone and the key lost, we can take the lock apart and create the factory key to operate the ignition lock. This service is available for all locks.

Do you want your ignition switch to use the same key as the door lock? Or does your passenger door lock open with a different key than your driver’s side door? We can re-key all locks to operate using the same keys. We will disassemble the locks, and change the internal parts so they work with the desired key.

We can make duplicate keys using an existing key.

NOTE: All first keys and keys by code will be produced on aftermarket brass key blanks. Some older cars came with steel key blanks from the factory. If you would like your key cut on an original Porsche steel key blank, that key blank will need to be purchased in addition to the brass key blank. The reason for this is the machine that produces the first key/key by code does not operate as precisely with steel key blanks. A brass key will be made, and then we will transfer the cuts to the steel key blank. You will receive both if you request a steel key blank.

First Key Service
Part Number: SMC.KEY.02
Many of the original locks available as replacement parts do not have keys with them. By requesting a first key, we can create a key that operates the lock. The key is the same as the one that operated the lock when it was assembled at the factory. We can provide first keys for all locks, including ignitions, door locks, glove compartment locks and hood locks. This service is available for locks from the earliest 356 to cars through the early 1990s. Pricing will vary depending on the lock and model. Pricing for First Key Service will vary by lock. Please inquire.
Key By Code Service
Part Number: SMC.KEY.01
All locks are assigned a code at the factory. The code indicates the cut sequence for the key that operates the lock. If you know the code for your lock, we can generate a new key that matches the code. The cuts on the new key will be the same as the original factory key created to operate with your code. Codes can be found etched into the tailpiece of the door lock or on a small piece of paper stuck on the ignition lock. Pricing will vary for keys with cuts on one side or both sides of the key. Note that early keys are “single-sided” with cuts only on one side of the key, and later keys are “double-sided” with cuts on both sides. In order to make a key by code for a double sided key, it will be necessary to purchase two key blanks.
Key Duplication Service
Part Number: SMC.KEY.04
We can provide you with a new duplicate key of your existing key. You will need to provide us a copy of your original cut key, and we will copy the cuts from your key onto a new key blank. We will duplicate your key using a properly calibrated German key duplication machine. We recommend sending your key blank in a padded envelope or small box.
Re-Key Service
Part Number: SMC.KEY.03
With this service, we will convert the existing lock to operate with a different key. This service will help you if you have two door locks that do not operate with the same key. We can re-key one to match the other. To perform this service, your lock will be disassembled and recoded to operate with the key of your choice. Please keep in mind the following information. In order for locks to be keyed the same, one key must slide into all locks. If the key does not enter the lock, it can not be made to operate with that key. Also, locks for Porsche models from 1970 can be re-keyed more simply. Earlier locks will require more disassembly and internal modification. This service is available for all locks. Prices will vary depending on model and if the lock has an existing key.
