The right bulbs for your Porsche
Description:
The bulb is installed in the digital clocks of the 944/968CS as well as in the outside temperature displays of the 968. If the clock lighting is too weak for you, you will notice when installing this original bulb that the luminosity has become noticeably weaker over the years.
Replacement is quick and easy, instructions can be found further down in this article description.
Note:
There are many bulbs with similar bases and different wattages. The other bases do not fit and incorrect wattages can lead to the reflector melting.
If your clock lights up but does not display any numbers or crescent-shaped errors, the display needs to be repaired. Simply search for "Porsche 944 digital clock" in the store.
Installation/removal instructions:
1. loosen the triangular, black plastic cover at the end of the dashboard, which is accessible when the passenger door is open
2. loosen the screw of the long, thin switch strip underneath.
3. carefully pull off the knobs of the two sliders of the heating/air conditioning control with a small slotted screwdriver or plastic spatula.
4. carefully remove the cover panel of the heating/air conditioning control from the side using a plastic spatula or very small slotted screwdriver. The cover is attached with four small clips (two at the top, two at the bottom). Be careful, the old plastic parts break easily. Loosen all four screws on the control panel and pull it forward one centimeter.
5. carefully turn the inner sensor rosette (small, round grille) by approx. 30 degrees and then remove it. Loosen the screw behind it.
6. use a small slotted screwdriver to loosen the cover to the left of the right-hand fan grille and the screws behind it.
7. now you can easily remove the switch strip and loosen the clock with its 2 screw connections. The somewhat stiff plug is not clipped and is simply pulled off. Now you can replace the bulb.
8. keep the screws in a safe place. Install in reverse order.
Note:
Make sure that the inner sensor hose has not slipped off and ideally use a cable tie to secure it.
