Auto-dimming mirrors in modern cars will fail with time. Porsche is not different, it uses same supplier as other car manufacturers.

New mirrors are expensive, repair is less expensive way to go. Issue with repair is that the housing is glued and needs to be cut open leaving visible "surgery" evidence after repair is completed.

I have created small trim piece to cover this repair damage.
Trim is designed to follow the curves of the mirror perfectly, its printed using MJF technology with HP PA 12 nylon dyed black. Finished product closely resembles OEM plastic, once installed in a car it looks as if it was always there. Does not require any post processing like painting.

Installation with few drops of glue (use very little so that when trim is pressed against the mirror housing, the glue doesn't seep out) or thin double sided tape.

This fits Porsche 911 and Boxster models (996, 997.1, 997.2, 986, 987) from 1999 to 2012 with auto-dimming mirror option.

* IMPORTANT: if you see your mirror failing, noticeable spots or discoloring, remove the mirror immediately! Liquid inside the mirror will start dripping down through the housing right on the dash irreversibly corroding the finish (leather/plastics).
