Porsche
Key Features:
- Tough & Durable: Creates a robust, long-lasting coating.
- Rust Penetration & Dehydration: Penetrates rust and dehydrates the metal to stop further corrosion.
- Flexibility: Offers some flexibility to accommodate minor movement or vibrations.
- Versatile Application: Can be applied by brush or conventional/airless spray gun.
- Chip Resistant: Resists chipping and damage from impacts.
- Moisture Seal: Seals out moisture to prevent future rust.
- Chemical Resistant: Withstands exposure to various chemicals.
- Paintable: Can be painted over for desired aesthetics.
Application Instructions:
-
Surface Preparation:
- Clean the surface, ensuring it's dry and free of contaminants.
- If painted, remove paint with 50-80 grit sandpaper.
- If unpainted, remove loose or flaking rust with sandpaper or a wire brush.
- Blow off any debris.
- Clean with Clean Prep or a wax/grease remover.
- Allow the surface to dry completely.
-
Brush Application (2 coats recommended):
- Apply even strokes (up/down and side-to-side).
- Let the first coat set for 2-4 hours before applying the second.
- The first coat should be tacky, not fully dry, before the second coat.
-
Spray Application (2-3 coats recommended):
- Use a 1.4-1.5 fluid nozzle and an HVLP spray gun (6-10 psi at the cap).
- Apply the first coat and let it set for 2-3 hours before the second.
- The first coat should be tacky, not fully dry, before the second coat.
- If thinning is needed, use a high-quality, fast urethane reducer (10-15%).
-
Important Considerations:
- Tacky Coat: Do NOT let the first coat dry hard before the second. Solvents from the first coat must still be flashing off.
- Sanding: If the first coat dries hard, sand with 320 grit sandpaper before the second coat.
- UV Sensitivity: Rust Armour is sensitive to UV light. Top coating is recommended for sun-exposed areas.
- Spray Equipment Cleaning: Clean equipment thoroughly within 15 minutes of use. Do NOT let Rust Armour sit in your spray gun.
- Overspray Removal: Remove overspray within 20 minutes to avoid needing sanding or sandblasting.
- Wear Gloves: Rust Armour can be difficult to remove from skin.
- Spray Equipment Compatibility: Do not use spray equipment previously used for water-based or latex coatings.
